Ronald Vernimmen, D4S Director and Technical Adviser, is a Dutch environmental scientist (MSc) specialized in spatial analysis and modelling with a focus on SE Asia since 2001. He has led major research exercises combining (airborne) LiDAR, other remote sensing sources and field surveys in innovative ways, some of which is demonstrated in science publications on elevation model (DTM) development, peat mapping and peat carbon quantification, amongst others. Ronald was employed by Deltares from 2007 to 2020, has an association with National University of Singapore since 2020, and set up Data for Sustainability in 2020.

Aljosja (Al) Hooijer, D4S Strategy Adviser, is a Dutch geologist and hydrologist (PhD) with over 30 years of work experience in more than 25 countries. He has wide experience in water resources management, wetland/peatland sciences and conservation management. Since 2005, he has focused increasingly on developing and leading science-based management support projects for lowland peatlands in SE Asia, yielding numerous leading science publications. Al was employed by Deltares from 1999 to 2023, has an association with National University of Singapore since 2020, and joined Data for Sustainability in 2023.
